Sheila (Segurson) D'Arpino graduated from veterinary school at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1996, and then worked as a general practioner and emergency veterinarian in Northern California.
In 2005, she completed a three year Behavior specialty training program, leading to board certification in veterinary behavior, with an emphasis on shelter animals and shelter behavior programs. After her residency Dr. D'Arpino worked for the Sacramento SPCA, Sacramento Veterinary Behavior Services, and the UC Davis Koret Shelter Medicine Program.
Currently, Dr. D'Arpino is the senior applied animal behaviorist for the Center for Shelter Dogs at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, where she develops and implements behavior programs for shelter dogs and sees behavior appointments for dogs and cats.
